In this section, we'll cover setting up Eudora to use Mac.com as the incoming mail server and Syracuse.Net as the outgoing mail server. In your e-mails received by your friends, your mac.com address will be listed as the "reply-to:" address.
Eudora documentation cites that 2 personalities should be used for this method... one for sending e-mail (this is the Dominant personality), and one for checking e-mail (this personality we'll create).
In this example, let's use the following information to set up Eudora for checking the mac.com e-mail box for Wayne Bibbens:
Name: Wayne Bibbens
Syracuse.Net User ID: wbibbens
Syracuse.Net Incoming mailbox name: mail.syracusenet.net
Syracuse.Net Outgoing mailbox name: mail.syracusenet.net
Mac.com User ID: syracusenet
Mac.com Incoming mailbox name: mail.mac.com
Mac.com Outgoiing mailbox name: smtp.mac.com (this will not be used)
Pull down the Special Menu and select Settings.
In the left-hand graphic menu, select: Personalities (it's near the end of the list)
In the right-hand information area, do the following.
Click "New" to create new personality
Let's give it a Personality name, here we've used "mac.com"
Note: We'll use this personality to get mail from our Mac.com account and we'll use the "Dominate" personality to send mail.
Enter your Username... syracusenet
Enter your Mail Server... mail.mac.com
Checkmark "Check mail on manual clicks"
Enter your Real name... Wayne Bibbens
Enter your SMTP Server... mail.mac.com
Enter your Return address... syracusenet@mac.com
